Can you believe it’s already December? It came so quickly. The new year is approaching, and I think it's a good time to reflect on what you are taking with you in the New Year and what you are leaving behind. You might be wondering what that means. Let me further explain and give you some examples. Perhaps this year, you have found that you are doing well with your self-care, which includes exercise, meditation, journaling, and saying No. You might say I’m taking this with me into 2024. You might then note that there are some things that you will not be taking with you into 2024. That could be certain relationships, habits, and expectations of others. Perhaps you have unrealistic expectations of others that you’d like to leave behind, or maybe there are some relationships you need to leave behind or some habits (overextending yourself, working a lot of overtime, and changing your after-work routine)
Some questions to ask yourself
- What am I taking with me in the New Year?
- What am I leaving behind in the New Year
- What do I want to incorporate into the New Year?
- What am I thankful for this year?
- What are some things I’m proud of myself for this year?
