There is so much judgment surrounding the world of addiction I wonder if we ever consider ourselves a part of that world. Below are some withdrawal symptoms from someone who uses drugs
- Agitation
- Anxiety
- Attention impairment, confusion, or disorientation
- Breathing change
- Fever
- Hallucinations
- Headache
- High blood pressure
- Insomnia
- Paranoia
- Seizures
- Sweating
- Tremors
- Upset stomach or vomiting
Some of these may seem extreme, but have you ever lost your phone/tablet? Can you go 24 hours without it? If you did, would you experience any of the symptoms above? Let’s test this theory, shall we? I think we will have more consideration for someone battling ANY form of addiction because we, too, may need additional support in disconnecting from something unhealthy for us.
If you or a loved one are struggling with substance use or addiction, contact the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) National Helpline at 1-800-662-4357 for information on support and treatment facilities in your area.
